Sue,
My paternal grandmother was Martha Jane Asling b. 1856, D.dau. of Edward Asling and Magdalen Truax. She would be the sister of Mary. Martha, b. Saintfield, Ontario. d. 1940, Tipton, Indiana.
My records show Edward's parents to have been John Aslin b. 1795 and Mary Taylor b.1810. Mary's parents were named William and Mary.
Magdalen's parents were John Marselis Truax b. 1797 and Mary Galbreath b. 1798. John's line can be traced back through Isaac Truax/Magdalen Marselis; Abraham Truax/Elizabeth Van Antwerp; Jacob Truax/Lybset de la Grange; Isaac de Trieux/Maria Wilemse Brouwer; Phillipe Du Trieux b.1588/Susanna du Chesne b.c.1601.
Mary Galbreath was dau. of John Galbreath(b. 1768 Balfron, Scotland)and Mary Cron (dau. of James Cron of Dumfrieshire, Scotland-ar. Canada 1789).
Isaac Truax and Magdalen Marselis were distant cousins and both lead back to Phillipe Du Triuex, one line by his first wife, Susanna and another through his second wife, Jaquemyne Noirett.
I have a lot more on most of these lines if you are interested.
