I don't have a complete answer but here are a few related facts. Thomas and Martha Aslin or Asselin came to Gibson Co., TN from NC by 1835. Your Thomas is prob. their son. I descend from Nancy Aslin who married Alford Knott in Gibson Co. I think Nancy may be their daughter --- beware this is all guesswork, but I'd think they are related! I think there also was a Samuel Aslin in Gibson Co. by 1830's also. I have found some Aslins in NC early 1800's but I can't remember where. I'll try to get back to you if I find them.
