I was very interested to read of your family links with Northern Ireland and Scotland. My grandfather, Thomas Askin, was born in 1847 in Co. Antrim and later lived in Australia. He was a captain/part owner of sailing ships. My father was born in 1989 in Adelaide South Australia. My father died in 1965 but he told me that the name was originally Erskine, that the family had come from Scotland before settling in Ireland. When I was a child I remember seeing a letter with letterhead with shoes, boots etc and the name Erskine and it was from Canada. It would have been dated in the late 1880's. I would love to hear from you.
