The General Land Office, 1700 N. Congress, Austin, TX has a file of the land grant made to Charles M. Askins Sr, in 1836 of a League and Labor of land. Copies, including field notes can be obtained by calling GLO in Austin. Ask for Nacogdoches 1st Class file number 235, Charles Askins. File shows Chas Askins arrived in TX in 1834.
