I think I may have traced this family to a Public House in Asfordby, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire 1800's, however I am still trying to link via the 1901 census which I have not been able to look at yet.

George Askins, I think had two brothers, Robert & Roland. Their Mother was Annie Hurst and their father was George - they married in 1915. If I have found the correct George then I have a note that he was born in 1891 in Shoreditch.

On the 1881 there was only one family in Leicester - Asfordby.

There was also a Louisa Askins who was a boarder in Leicester. I have ruled her out of this family as I guess her name would have changed through marriage.

I hope this is of use to you.

It would be nice to hear more from you.
