I am very interested in the information you have on this family as the man you show as Sanford Askins is my g-great grandfather.
I have included a section of your post below with some notes (in parenthesis) about the information I have on this family. I have much more than I list. The source for most of my information was Emma Reed before she died in 1971. In particular, I am interested in the information on Sanford's family and any information you have connecting him with Henry. My mother has always believed that Sanford's father's name was William, but she isn't sure where she got that idea from.
Anyway, I hope we can join forces to trace these folks back.

I'm looking for the wife and parents of HENRY (the name given on the 1860 census) ASKINS b. abt. 1809 in SC. This Askins family may be in TN, SC, and is known to now be in AR and MO. Henry was in AR by 1860. (Independence Co., then Johnson Co.)
Generation 1.
Children of Henry:
Sanford Askins b. abt. 1845 GA (Our records show b.1827 in GA)
Generation 2.
Sanford Askins m. 1. (?) 2. Ellenden King (Our records show the name as Ellen b. abt 1816 in what became Johnson County, AR)
Children of Sanford: (All 5 of Sanford’s children that we have record of were born in Johnson County, AR)
Jahu Askins (Is this a child from the first marriage? Our records don’t show him as a part of the immediate family. Since Emma Reed always referred to him as Uncle Jehu, we have always believed that he was Sanford's brother. Also, do your records show this as Jahu or Jehu? )
Ida Askins (Also not shown in our records for this family)
Martha Askins (Also not shown in our records for this family)
John Tucker Askins m. Susan F. Meeker (Also not shown in our records for this family)
Mary Askins m. ?Allen (b. abt 1858, died 1878 in Clarksville)
Henry L. Askins (b. 1862)
William Sanford Askins m. Millie Nunley (b. 1864)
John Wilkins Askins (b. 1 June 1868, died 1 Nov. 1906 in Clarksville)
(There also was an Emily Askins b. 1872)
Generation 3.
I have lots of info on this generation. I knew a large part of them personally.
