Eureka, I think I have finally found it. No proof, just a gut feeling and lots of similarities. My John Askins died in 1855, death listed as Ky. but estate settled in Fayette Co., Il where the family lived. I have never been able to get past 1855. My John's children carried some of the family names of John Askins, Charles City, Md. I think this is it.
