Ernest V. Ashworth & Co. L 9th Inf N.G. of Texas 1918

I found Ernest v. Ashworth, my grandfather's WW1 Service Registration Card on Ancestry.com. On this record it states that he was "currently" a member of Co. L of 9th Infantry N. G. [National Guard] of Texas and his then current employer was the said unit he was a member of. I have tried over and again to locate any historical data relating to the 9th Inf N.G. of Texas. I did find where a Col. Logan was assigned as commander of the unit during President Woodrow Wilson's tenure. The 9th Inf N.G. of Texas was dispatched under President Wilson to the Texas/Mexico border to deal with bandits who had crossed the boundary from Mexico into Texas. Does anyone have any links to or knowled of where to find additional information on this Texas N.G. unit?
