I wish to find out more of the Samuel Ashton who was probably born around 1695-1700, he married Ann Hawksworth on 6 SEP 1719 at St James, Louth. They had 6 children - John, Samuel, Elizabeth, Ann, Mary, William. He was assessed to pay a rate 'relief for the poor' based on ratable value of £5, amounting to 4s 2d in 1749. He served on a jury in 1724, 1725, 1729, 1732. He had property mentioned in the wills of other family members, and his own will described himself as a chairmaker. He was buried on 24 MAR 1769 When and where was he born? Who was his father? Was his father also a chair maker? I found a chair maker named John Ashton of Spalding who died in 1705, leaving a short will and inventory, who may be connected. The will unfortunately only mentioned a son and daughter, but no names. My information collected on Samuel doesn't have enough evidence to link him to John, who may just be an uncle. I would really like to find out more about Samuel's early days and origins. Can anyone offer any more information? Notify Administrator about this message?
