I have been told that a Joseph Ashton b 1654 in Ormskirk, son of Isaac ASHTON and Margaret HOUGH, immigrated to the US ca 1680-1682 and settled in Philadelphia. He married a woman named Jane (surname unknown) at some point and they were baptized together at the Pennepack Bapt Church in 1687.
I can find only two known children: Joseph and Benjamin, both mentioned in Joseph's will of 1708.
Can anyone confirm that this Joseph is in fact the son of Isaac and Margaret or Ormskirk, and that he is the Joseph in Philadelphia? I find lots of family trees to that effect, but have not been able to document the actual connection.
Does anyone have any information on this Joseph, his wife Jane, his children, or parents/siblings? Any help greatly appreciated.
