I hope someone can help with information on the Ashton family who came to CT in 1820. I know that Charles Ashton arrived in 1820. He was born in London, England in October of 1818. He became a gun smith later in life and I believe that his father may have been a gun smith also but I do not know his parents' names or anything else about them.
On 1 AUG 1840 Charles married Maria Jane Carey in Middletown, CT.
She was born in 1816 in CT (I believe in Middletown).
In the 1850 census they are living in Windsor, VT but then move back to New Haven, CT.
One of their children, Ellen, went on to marry George D. Kay on 29 JUN 1866. They, in turn, had a daughter named Minnie Bell Kay who would marry Walter Dudley Brockett of North Haven on 24 JUN 1896. Their daughter, Minnie Bell Brockett, was my grandmother.
Any help with the Ashton's would be appreciated.
