Here is John W Carver's line, as found in the book "Genealogy of William Carver from Hertfordshire, England in 1682" by Elias Carver, Attorney-at-law of Doylestown, PA 1903:

William Carver1 was born in England and came into Byberry, Philadelphia, PA.,
in 1682. In the 11th month, 1689 (old style), he married at Friends’ Meeting, Middletown Twp, Bucks Co., Pa., Joan Kinsey, a descendant of Chief Justice Kinsey. This wife having died, he married at Falls Monthly Meeting, in 1723, Grace Carter, his second wife, a widow, whose maiden name was Paxson, from Bristol, England. By her he had but one child, Hannah. He died at Byberry, in May, 1736, and she in 1737. His children are, as shown by his will:

1. Sarah Carver, b. 1690, 10 mo. 20, m. ________ Marshall.
2. Rachel Carver, m. ________ Denkon, or Demkon.
3. William Carver, b. 1694, 3mo. 22.
4. Rebecca Carver, m. ________ Brock.
5. Hester Carver,m. ________ Knight.
6. Mary Carver, m. Samuel Worthington.
7. Hannah Carver – by his second wife.


(3.) William Carver, Jr.2 – a son of William and Joan Kinsey, his wife – was born in Byberry, Philadelphia, Pa., 1694, 4 mo. 22; married 1719, 10 mo. 28, Elizabeth Walmsley, daughter of Henry and Mary (Searle) Walmsley. In 1735-6, he moved to Buckingham Twp, Bucks Co., Pa., to the farm he purchased of Thomas Walmsley. He was the first Carver who settled in Bucks Co. He died there in January, 1759. His widow died in Warwick Twp, in 1772. His will was recorded at Doylestown, Bp., in Will Book No. 2, page 353, January 30, 1759; his widow’s in Will Book No. 3, page 258, March 2, 1772. His sons, William and Henry, were his executors. His children are:

9.       Joseph Carver.
10.       Henry Carver.
11.       Elizabeth Carver, m. Thomas Buckman.
12.       Mary Carver, m. Josiah Wilkinson.
13.       Rebecca Carver,       m. Thomas Schofield.
14.       Martha Carver,       m. Isaac Worthington.


(10.) Henry Carver3 – another son of William Carver and Elizabeth Walmsley, his wife – married Rachel Smith, daughter of William and Rebecca Wilson of Wrightstown Twp, Bucks Co., Pa., in 1755. He died in Buckingham Twp, in October, 1774. His will is dated September 10, 1774, and recorded in Will Book No. 3, page 375, October 25, 1774. His executors were his wife, Rachel, and his brothers, Joseph and William, his sons being minors. The following are his children:

26.       Elizabeth Carver, b. 1756.
27.       Rachel Carver, b. 5 mo. 10, 1758.
28.       Thomas Carver, b. 1761.
29.       John Carver, b. 1762.
30.       Joseph Carver, b. 10 mo. 3, 1765
31.       Benjamin Carver, b. 1767.

Rachel, his widow, married 1779, 11th month 10, her second husband, Samuel Harrold from Ireland, a descendant of Samuel Harrold of Normandy, France. He was a merchant and became wealthy, owning land in both Pennsylvania and Virginia. He died the forepart of November, 1803. His will bears date 1803, 5th month 26, and is recorded in Will Book No. 6, page 504, November 10, 1803. He died in Buckingham Twp, Bucks Co., Pa.
Samuel was born in Cavin County, Ireland, in 1728; came to America at the age of 17, and married a lady by the name of Russell, by whom he had five sons and two daughters. Their names are: William Harrold, James, Samuel, Joseph, John, Sarah and Elizabeth.
Samuel Harrold and Rachel Carver, his second wife, had two children, viz.:
32.       David Harrold, b. 1780, 12 mo.
33.       Rebecca Harrold, b. 1783, 3 mo. 19.
Rachel, his widow, died in June, 1824. Her will is recorded in Will Book No. 10, page 297, June 18, 1824.


(31.) Benjamin Carver4 – another son of Henry Carver and Rachel Smith, his wife – was born in Buckingham Twp, Bucks Co., Pa., in 1767. He married, in 1789, Sarah Kirk, daughter of William, whose will was proven November 2, 1821, in Will Book No. 10, page 50. William was the father of John Kirk, who married Mary Carver (see No. 25). Benjamin died intestate, January 4, 1837, leaving his second wife, Ann. His wife, Sarah, died 1816, 10th month 14. His children are:

146.       Amos Carver, b. 1791, 5 mo. 22.
147.       William Carver, b. 1793, 3 mo. 6.
148.       Jesse Carver, b. 1797, 3 mo. 24.
149.       Cynthia Carver, b. 1800, 8 mo. 19.
150.       Rachel Carver, b. 1802, 12 mo. 3.
151.       Levi Carver, b. 1805, 6 mo. 12.
152.       Isaac Carver, b. 1808, 1 mo. 6.
153.       Miranda Carver, b. 1810, 10 mo. 25.
154.       Mary Carver, b. 1813, 5 mo. 29.
155.       Stephen Carver, b. 1816, 10 mo. 14, d. the next day.
156.       Elizabeth Carver, b. 1795, 10 mo. 3.


(151.) Levi Carver5 – another son of Benjamin Carver and Sarah Kirk, his wife – was born in Plumstead, 1805, 6th month 12; married Hannah (actually should be Harriet. Author has this correct for the children’s write-ups) Cosner, 1831, 4th month 6, and died in Northampton Twp, Bucks Co., 1881, 9th month 11, aet. 78 years. His children are:

585. Lucinda Carver, b. 1828, 11 mo. 29, unm.
586. Elias Carver, b. 1832, 12 mo. 29.
587. Rebecca J. Carver, b. 1837, 3 mo. 19.
588. John W. Carver, b. 1839, 3 mo. 6.
589. Sarah E. Carver, b. 1841, 4 mo. 11, d. young.
590. Louisa Carver, b. 1843, 9 mo. 3.
591. Rachel Carver, b. 1845, 10 mo. 30.
592. Johanna Carver, b. 1847, 11 mo. 2.
593. Elmira Carver, b. 1848, 2 mo. 29.
594. William Carver, b. 1852, 3 mo. 28, d. young.


(588.)       John W. Carver6 – another son of Levi Carver and Harriet Cosner, his wife – was born 1839, 3rd month 6; married 1868, 1st month 16, Phebe Ann Ashton, daughter of George W. of New Hope. She was born in 1844, 12th month 1. Had children:

1604. Preston C. Carver, b. 1869, 2 mo. 25.
1605. Caroline S. Carver, b. 1870, 3 mo. 23.
