I am not sure about the Caroll County Ashmores, but my mother was an Ashmore, and my brother has been doing some genealogy on the Ashmore name.I do know that Joshua Ashmore was one of the sons of James Ashmore.I do know when he left Tennessee, he went to Arkansas.I do know that Sam Ashmore is another son of James, and he relocated to Illinois. There is a very small Town in Illinois that is named Ashmore, and 8 miles away is a small town Oakland. This is the Area that Sam Ashmore settled.Ashmore, Illinois is the only town in the United States with that name.James Ashmore's family came to the United States in 1634 from England on a ship called the Ark & the Dove and landed in Maryland. As of now, we know more about the Sam Ashmore side of the family, but would love to know more about all of them.Oh, a little note of intrest...Joshua Ashmore worked with Davey Crockett in Tennessee before leaving for Arkansas.I know that Joshua died in 1846 in Pope County Arkansas.
