I found a marriage record in Albemarle County for Lilburn Hughes and Elizabeth Ashlin, dated 1 May 1858. It does not name any parents for Elizabeth, but since 3 of Frances (widow of Hartwell) Ashlin's daughters were married in Albemarle, I have always thought that she was also Hartwell's daughter. I found Lilburn and his wife on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses in Lawrence Co. AL. Who was this Elizabeth Ashlin?
