seeking information on family of Josiah Hiram Ashley abt 1802-1856. Born in Va, moved to KY about 1840 and to Bates County, MO abt 1847. 1st wife married in KY was Mary Catherine Smith. She dies 1846 and he married Harriet? and they move to Missouri.
Several children by first wife - Hiram (or possibly Newton), Mary Prudence, Sarah and possibly Sallie, Lou or Sarana. Son dies at battle of Lone Jack but can find no proof. Any help with 2nd wife, names of all the kids, correct name of boy and details about war - The family cemetery in Bates County is being restored and we want to research them as much as possible. Thank you
