Bobbi,
I have made two trips to the Campbell County Rustburg courthouse and have about gotten all that is there to offer. My roadblock is the marriage of John Asher to Jain (Jane), and where they came from. I have records to show John in Campbell Co., VA in 1795. I also have John's will, which was probated in Campbell Co. in 1823. Their 1st child was married in 1797. They would have been married before the Campbell Co. Marriage Book was instituted, and possibly prior to the formation of Campbell Co. from Bedford Co. in 1782. Since they are not found in the Bedford County records before that time, they must have arrived in the area in about 1795.

I have joined the Asher DNA project, and although I have received a number of matches, none have the name of Asher. Since the Dillion Asher lineage is documented in the DNA project, I am not of that ancestry.

I am intrigued by the near proximity of Halifax to Campbell County and the possibility that I might be a descendant of your William Asher or someone in his lineage.

Any light that you might be able to shed my way would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil Asher
