In a search of "The Texians" database, I found a William J. Asher who first arrived in Texas in Nov. 1836. He was given a Class 2 land grant of 1280 acres on May 3, 1838 in Fort Bend County, and that grant was finalized on Jan 29, 1855. Does anyone have any information on this William J. Asher, like a birthdate, father, mother, descendants? My 3rd. great-grandfather, Thomas Asher, had a brother named William, b 1785. Thomas also received a land grant in Texas, but his grant was in Shelby County. He first came to Texas in 1832. Both Thomas & his brother, William, moved to Mound Creek, DeWitt County, TX by 1846 where they were registered to vote. Thomas registered a cattle brand in DeWitt County in 1846.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
