Born: 1725 in North Carolina; Died: 1813 also in North Carolina and buried in Ashe Family Cemetery. Elected Governor by the North Carolina General Assembly 1795 and served 3 consecutive one year terms. Part of his family moved further west into Tennessee, Arkansas and other states and took with them the only known portrait. State of North Carolina and family still in the area would like to get a copy of his portrait. CAN YOU HELP ??????
