Edwin was a Music Publisher in London, England and was at one stage
Treasurer and later President of the Music Publishers' Association. He
had a large family, and a number of his sons were also involved in the
family business. Son Percy ASHDOWN managed the company's branch in New
York, which opened in 1891, while Frank and Sydney were in Toronto,
Canada, Frank managing the Canadian branch.

Edwin married (1) Elizabeth Sarah ARNSBY, and (2) Hannah (surname unknown).

Other children included Edwin Arnsby, Elizabeth Mary, Alfred, Florence,
Kate, Charles George, Edith, Ethel, Violet (later Mrs LEVIN) and Leonard.
