I now have something definite!William Ashdown b Dartford,Kent in 1838 and married firstly to Ann b1839 and then to Maria,born in Amsterdam but a british citizen.He was the father of William b 1860 ,and married to Alice,who was my G.grandfather.He{William b1838] lived in Amelia Rd,off Spa Road,then Neckinger and finally 1901 census in Flora Row,Newington .There seem to have been several generations of carmen;registered horse and cart drivers in the family.More details if any one thinks they may share him.Annie Hill
