Hello again David

I note you mention the parents of John to William & Mary!

Interestly I have a Henry christened 2 Jan 1825 recorded in Tonbridge, Kent England to a William ASHDOWN & Mary
FHL Film 1469567 - Dates : 1812 - 1837

An experienced researcher in Kent advised this information
from the British Vital Recors index version 2 which has
the parish indexed for 1813-137

Unfortunately she advised that ASHDOWN is 'quite a common name" in Kent - which I have finding out!

She didn't mentioned a sibling John, but if all your other
avenues are at a "brick wall" maybe this may be a starting
point for you also.

Hoping we may find a connection one day :)
Regards
Amanda
