Robert Ashdown born c1838 and his wife Sarah (nee Smith) lived in the Lambeth/Southwark area of Surrey, Robert was a bricklayer. In the 1881 census they were living in Lansdowne Place with their children Alfred age 16, Charles Samuel age 14, Minnie age 10 and George aged 8. Sarah and the children were all born in Lambeth. There were possibly children older than those listed.
This Ashdown family would also provide a grandmother called Sarah Ashdown for children born around 1900 (including my own grandfather).
