Enos Ashby d 1807 Hopkins County, Kentucky
Does anyone know if Enos Ashby have a daughter named Sarah?
On 21 Sept. 1807, Robert Hooker entres 135 acres of land in Hopkins County, by virtue of a certificate from the County Court of Henderson obtained in the name of his wife, Sarah Ashby. Henderson Co. Dec. Co. Ct., 1803. Land lying on the East Fork of Deer Creek. p. 11. The name on the certificate is deffinately Sarah Ashby, as I had a look up go to the County Court and look at the original document. She informed my that she had seen the certificate and that the name on it was Sarah ASHBY. So it has deffinately been established that Sarah was an Ashby.
I can only think that this 135 acres of land was either an inheritance that Sarah got or a wedding present to her. It is more likely that it was an inheritance.
The only Ashby I can find that could have been her father that died in Hopkins County, Kentucky in 1807 is Enos Ashby. If the land was a wedding present, I beleive Sarah's father would most likely be Daniel Ashby. Some researchers list a Sarah as a daughter of Daniel Ashby and Mary Benson, but do not have any more info on her. Robert Hooker and Sarah Ashby named their first child, a daughter, Mary born 1807.
On the 1810 census for Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky, Robert Hooker is living near Daniel Ashby.
If anyone can help me identify my Sarah Ashby's parents, it would be very much appreciated.
