If you’re looking for a birth or death certificate on Capt. Thomas Ashby and his wife (or wives), those documents don’t exist. From what I understand a lot of other documents do still exist. (Owners of same are unknown to me.) Does a name on a deed prove someone actually existed? Does a grave marker prove someone actually existed? Does a "proved will" prove someone actually existed?
