Thanks for suggestions. Don't believe these are the same Ashby family. Mine seem to have arrived in Union County in late 18th century from Virginia. Related families are Landlot Porter, probably Farr and Thomas, possibly Lovell or Level, assuming Lovell (Level) H. Ashby was named after his mother's family. They emigrated to Mississippi about 1850.
