Martin Ashbaugh, Allegheny Twp, b.1804
Martin Ashbaugh is my third great grandfather and I am trying to find any information possible about who his parents were.
I have received the following 1850 census data which has expanded the information that was given to me by my family.
The 1850 census reported Martin Ashbaugh (aged 45) and his wife Christena (aged 46) (the original info I had spelled her name with an "i").
Their children are listed: George (18yrs), Hannah (14yrs,and my great great grandmother, married name Dunn), John (9yrs), Barbara (6yrs), James (4yrs) and Henry (1yr).
They were living in Allegheny Twp at the time of this census.
Martin's wife, Christena, has proven to be a problematic figure. Her maiden name was reported to me as Barbary but my research thus far indicates that although this name was used as a surname, it was more frequently used as a girl's name, a version of Barbara. I'm not sure if this was her maiden surname or not. My family has also suggested that this bit of info is murky.
I would be interested in any information that could link me to Martin's parents names.
Thanks in advance! Courtney
