John Wesley Ashbaugh was born near Crestland, Ohio in Richland County in 1856. Around 1870 he moved to Traer, Iowa where he married and started a family. In 1892 they moved to a farm near Rushmore, Minnesot. He died in 1947 in Worthington, Minnesota and is buried at Traer, Iowa.
