Third time's the charm.I'll try again. I do know that John and Jacob were in Madison Twp, Butler, Ohio at the same time. Tax records from that era show Jacob and MICHAEL paid their taxes one after the other in 1826, and JOHN and Michael followed each other in 1827. The names were spelled,"Aunspaw" in 1826 and "Anspach" or "Anspack" in 1827.Jacob filed earlier in 1827 according to the page numbers.I didn't pursue John and Michael further, I'm sorry to say, so have no other information from them.HOWEVER, you can contact the BUTLER COUNTY RECORDS CENTER AND ARCHIVES at
210 South Second Street, Lower Level, Hamilton, Ohio, 45011.'Phone is 513-887-3437.Tax records only go back to 1820, but Estates, Wills and Testaments, and land records go back to 1803.I have no other hint of connection with the Parke Co. Ashpaugh's...I didn't pursue land records, taxes and estates for anyone other than Jacob. SORRY!
As for Iowa, you might try the County Assessor's office for tax records there, which may give you Land numbers.Once you get land numbers you may be able to access land records at the Abstract offices there if the County Clerk's office can't get them for you. They'll give you a good idea as to when the property sold, and possibly why it sold, such as estate settlement, etc. When you have dates, it's always possible to look up old newspapers for deaths.Extant probates should also be at the Court Clerk's office if an estate was involved.Old school records (if extant) often list the children and their parents, and the school to which they went. There are also divorce records at the court house...happened more often than we realize.
But you probably know all that already and I'm feeding you old information. Hope this helps, though!JanetB
