Register of Marriages of Non-Catholics living in the District of Ste. Genevieve, MO. Sept 26th, 1796 to 1812
They were married by the Catholic Priest, not as a Priest, by his authority from the King. After each record he has written; "I have married them according to the ordinance of His Majesty in regard to the marriage of his non-Catholic Subjects"
The names are almost all written in French and in many instances are incorrectly spelled.

Daniel Maredeth, native of Jersey in the United States of the America, resident of this district two years TO
CHRISTINE ASHARD (or Ashford), native of Monogahela, near Pittsburg, living here four years.
Their promises of marrage were published at the door of the church for three consecutive Sundays. Witnesses: Michael Danely(Donnelly) living on the Saline: ISAAC ASHARD or Ashford or Asford; ELIZABETH ASHARD; Isaac kester; Maria Cook; Nancy Boise. Ste. Pierre, Cure of Ste. Genevieve.
