I wish I knew more. John William Ash immigrated from Derbyshire, England in the late 1800's? Known as a loner, he kept to himself in travels across the west, settling in Idaho. Apparently the weather didn't suit him, and he sold everything to Potlatch Corp. He then attended Dartmouth college somewhere between 1901-1906, where he taught his fellow students how to fashion wooden boards into skiis, and glide down hills. I have a wonderful letter documenting this activity.
Having just begun my efforts at researching my family's genealogy, I have much to learn, but I would enjoy knowing more about your line of Ash's. The names and places all sound very much like my family, and indeed there may be a connection.
