Hi Jody,
I don't know if there's a connection or not, simply because I don't have information about my families prior to the late 1800's. However, just for further information, I wanted to relate that my great-grandparents, Maude Bea Kenney and Byrd Cook Asbery were married in Sulphur Springs, TX in June, 1905. The Asberys had migrated from TN and the Kenneys were, as far as I know, in TX as early as 1870. I wish I could give your more information, but this post will always be here for later referral.

I don't think it was all that uncommon for Celtic families to stick so close together and intermarry. I have found that tendency in both my Irish lineage and my husbands Welsh lineage. It seems it all revolved around land ownership. (JMO)

Kind regards,
Monica
