These were found in the Library of Congress Civil War manuscript division. According the the George Bennett history, Jefferson James (or James Jefferson) was the son of Jarvis Asbill of Ridge Spring, SC , son of Aaron Asbill of Ridge Spring and Bertie County, NC.

I have transcribed/translated the best that I can. I have standardized spelling, punctuation, and paragraphs for easier readability. I have left grammar as I found it.

I would like to know if there are any descendants of Jefferson James (J.J.)

I have added additional information to the letters at the bottom to identify time/place/events/people.
