FYI,

The South Caroliniana library (see post 236) has the the letter John Asbell (GA) wrote to his sister (SC) informing her of her son's death that is referenced in the Bennett book. I didn't request a copy - I must have been in the ozone from finding all the "Abner" stuff - so not sure exactly how legible, etc.
