Aaron Asbill - To Carolyn Azbill
Carolyn,
On one of your posts you have a poem written by Aaron, saying he lived in Aikentown.I am interested in the date of the correspondence.Aiken, SC (20 miles from Ridge Spring and much larger) was named for William Aiken (1806-1831) in 1835.So how could Aaron, who died in 1813, refer to Aikentown, when the area wasn't even named yet and the person it was named for was only 7 years old when Aaron died?If the date on the correspondence is previous to Aaron dying in 1813, you may have information to change SC history.I know you disperse lots of information and I truly appreciate your time and effort in maintaining this forum, so I am hesitant to ask you to look something up, but this would be extremely important information to the state of SC.
Thanks,
Annette
