I am related to John Q Artman.I used to be Jeanne Lee. My husband died (2nd one to die) and I remarried in June. My new name is Brooks. It has been a long time since I have contacted anyone in behalf of the John Q Artman family.John and his wife, Catherine D. Gilmore had 9 children altogether. My direct descendant is my great-grandmother, Rebecca, born in 1864. A few years back, many Artman's tried to tell me she was not a part of this family. If you are still skeptical, check in 1870, Hardin county Census, and she's right there with the other children already born by then. She was a 6 year old.
From our line, John Artman, 1743, married Anna Margaretta Hornbeck. Recently I checked Ancestry.com and found this line extended back to Belgium and Holland in the 1250, Pieter Van Hornenbecke.I am going to check for a Hornbeck Forum and see what information is there.
John 1743, is the earliest Artman I have found.Has anyone gone any further?
