I have a John L. Arter in my records, he died Oct. 10th 1862 in Alton Ill.Civil war son of William and Elizabeth Arter of Scott co. Ark. I do not have a marriage for him if in fact he was married he was born 1839 which would have made him about 23 years old. He may have had a son on the way. If so his military records and pension records may show this information. Should this be a connection or if you want more information on this John L. Arter let me know.
