According to my family records, the Robert N. ARTER who married Mary Ellen RUST is the son of Robert N. ARTER b:1844 in Washburn, Scott Co. AR who was married to Elen? b: abt. 1847 in MS? They had children Martha b: about 1867 in AR, Ony (or Omy, I believe a female) b: about 1869 in AR, William D. b: about 1871 in AR, John E, born about 1873 in AR, and Robert N, born about 1878 in AR. Other siblings I have listed but are not verified and I have not other information on are Lucretia, Sarah and Phoebe.
Robert N. Sr., according to my files was in the Union army, and later, after Mary died, he married Nancy Ann FRANKS. Robert Sr. is the son of William H. ARTER born 12 Nov. 1812 in TN, died 14 Jan. 1885 in Booneville, Logan Co., AR. William H. ARTER was married to Elizabeth OLIVER, born 16 Dec 1814 in NC and died 15 Aug 1885 in Booneville, AR. Their children were John L. ARTER, William H. ARTER, Isam Green ARTER (my relative), Catharine ARTER, and Robert N. ARTER.
The John W. ARTER that you mentioned who was married to Minnie STEMBRIDGE would be Robert Jr.'s first cousin. John Wesley ARTER was a son of Isam Green ARTER.
William H. ARTER is in the 1860 Scott County AR census, Boon TWP, page 733 with Robert Sr. age 16; also the 1850 Scott Co. AR, Washburn TWP, page 152 when Robert Sr. is age 6.
Since Robert is not my direct line, I cannot fully document everything above, some of which came from other family members, and I do not have later documentation on either Robert and their families from census records, etc.
