Dr Daniel B Arter was born Jun 3, 1798 in Frederick Co Md. Father Abraham Arter, born Dec 26, 1769 in Westminster, MD, died Nov 30-1850. Wife Magdaline Hahn, Born Jun 26, 1777, died Aug 16, 1853.
This guy must of been a character, he married Mary Jarrett, Aug 16,1819 in Chambersburg, Pa. Children, Harriet Elizabeth, Sara Rebecca, Jacob Jarrett, Charles Daniel, Darius Abraham, Freeman John. (Jacob was Mary's father's & brother's name, Charlotte was her sisters name). Then Dr. Daniel married Milly Moyers, Jul 24, 1831, not telling her he was all ready married. There children, Ann Eliza, Adelina Angeline, Amarala, Laura Jacinta, Isabella Linwood. This comes from the book "The Arter/Arthur Family of Fountain Valley", except for the Jarrett information. Mary Jarrett died in May 1863 & is buried in the German Reformed Cemetery beside her fathers house in Chambersburg, PA. I guess ole Daniel got restless & left the wife & kids in PA & went West for excitement.. I'm trying to tie into John H Jarrett born Dec 20, 1835 in Md, & have done a lot of research on the Jarrett family from Chambersburg. The book says Mary died on 6 Aug 1879, but that is the date for Dr. Daniel in Cairo, Illinois.
Laura Jacinta, born 1841 Caledonia, Illinois, died 11 Jul 1911. Married Stephen Wood Rittenhouse, son of Joseph Rittenhouse & Sarah J Ewing.
