Was your great great grandmother Mary Ellen born ca 1857? Using the 1850 & 1860 Jefferson Co., KY census records and the Cemetery Records of Kentucky, Vol 1, Jefferson Co., KY," the following family emerges: William Artt b ca 1822 & married 5 Apr 1846 to Elizabeth Messick. Elizabeth was born 23 Dec 1824 and died 23 Jan 1884. Children of this couple: Melissa J. Art, Armethia or Amelia (you probably know the correct name & have called her Armetia), James T., Mary E., Sarah, George, Jeptha William, Narcissa, and Longo O. I also located KY death certificates for Longo O. & Jeptha W. & his wife Mattie Elizabeth.
William Art(t) appears on the 1845, 1846, 1847, 1849, 1852 & 1855 Jefferson Co., KY tax lists. (That is as far as I had time to check - possibly continues on the subsequent tax lists). I am interested in him because he was in the same area that my 3rd great grandfather, Robert Artt, lived. I am trying to determine how (if at all) he is related to Robert Artt. Also with Robert Artt in Jefferson Co., KY were his sons Robert Bell Artt (my ancestor), John Bell Artt & Thomas Artt. Appearing on the tax rolls in 1842 & 1843 was Jabas (Jabez) Art who was a nephew of Robert Artt.
