She was born Abt. 1823 in Unk, and died Bef. 12 May 1851 in Prob.Egmont Bay. He married (2) SCHOLASTIQUE ARSENAULT 20 May 1851, daughter of JOSEPH ARSENAULT and ISABELLE POIRIER. She was born 23 Feb 1830, and died Aft. Sep 1882.

The surname Maddix (often pronounced Maddec) is of Irish origin. The ancestor of this family is James Maddix, who was born in Ireland around 1795. He was living in the Egmont Bay area by the 1820s. After the death of his first wife ,Anne MacDougall,he integrated into the Acadian community when he married Scholastique ( Colostie ) Arsenault in 1851. The Maddix family decend from this second marriage. James Maddix died in Egmont Bay in 1875.

The death occured at the Prince County Hospital on Sunday, September 23 ,1990 ,of Irene DesRoches, Kinsmen Road ,Mischouse ,P.E.I. aged 61 years.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Eva (Maddix) Walsh. She is survived by her husband George and 12 children . Also by brothers Sherman, Fred , Robert, Clayton and Eric and by one sister Sandra Adams. She was predeceased by one daughter in 1956.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home until Tuesday, then to St. John the Baptist Church Miscouche. Interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the P.E.I. Lung Association would be appreciated. Visiting hours today 7-9 pm. and Tuesday 1-3 pm.

The funeral for Irene DesRoches was held Tuesday, September 25, 1990 from East Prince Funeral Home then to St. John the Baptist Church Miscouche for Funeral service at 4 pm. Prior to leaving the funeral home, prayers were delivered by Father Eloi Arsenault, Father Raymond Gallant gave the homily and then the prayers of final commendation and farewell. Pallbearers were: Percy Rushton, Alfred Gallant, Daniel Gallant, Gerald Adams, Jaret Gallant and Tom DesRoches. The readings and prayers of the faithful were given by Sheila Searle. Organist was Phyllis. Entrance hymn was Now Fades the Earthly splendor, communion hymn was Be Not Afraid, and recessional hymn was Lord Jesus Of You I Will Sing. Flowerbearers were grandsons Jason and Jeremy DesRoches, granddaughter Laurie Arsenault, and niece Rosemarie MacKinnon Interment in the church cemetery.
