Thanks to the New Brunswick Genealogical Society and the late Mr Johnson, there seems to be a break-through in this search:

BROWN: Nicholas Brown born 1787 in Ireland: came to NB and may have first settled in Charlotte County, then moved to Lincoln, Sunbury County, then in Saint John where he died: married Phoebe Flynn born 1792 at Digdeguash, Saint Patrick Parish, Charlotte County:
Only child mentioned was, Nicholas James Brown born 1818 at Lincoln NB, died 1880, m. Ann Dickinson Metcalf b. 1823 Maccan, NS, d. 1884: went to BC and had issue.
