Heather,

Your best bet would be to first obtain a death certificate for Arthur from the Rhode Island Division of Vital Statistics in Providence, which will list his date of birth and parents' names on it. Without this valuable piece of information, you can't move forward into Canada. Trois-Rivières could mean the city of Trois-Rivières, or even the region around it which is populated with many Acadian families. Arsenault is one of the top 10 Acadian families, and there could be others from that area who also have sons named Arthur born around the time of your great-grandfather. I suggest you get his death certificate first or at least an obituary from the Providence Journal if you know when he exactly passed away. Dennis Boudreau
