I haven't found anyone futher back than James, here is all my information about the Peden family, I hope it helps a little. Elizabeth Peden was born in 1673 in Lower Parish, Isle Of Wight, Virginia. She died after May 4, 1725 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. She has Ancestral File number FBB2-GT, number NTSL-GR. Reverend James Pedden was born in 1646 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. He signed a will on October 16, 1693 in Lower Newport Parish, Isle
Of Wight, Virginia. He died on August 9, 1694 in Lower Newport Parish, Isle Of Wight, Virginia. He was also known as Peddin or Peden. He has Ancestral File number NTSL-DF. He was married to Jane Huggens in 1672 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Jane Huggens was born in 1643 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. She has Ancestral File number NTSL-FL. I'm sorry I don't have any more information, does anyone have an idea of who the first Peden to America was?

James Peden (I refer to him as James I) died in Newport Parish, Isle of Wight County, Virginia about 08-09-1694 (his will was recorded on that date). He married Mrs. Jane Huggens (widow of Rev. Mathew Huggens). James Peden (I) was administrator of Rev Huggens' estate in 1692.

He had a daughter, Elizabeth Peden who married William Arrington (There is a deed in Isle of Wight Co whereby William and Elizabeth cleared a deed of gift between her father James and a Mr. Broddie. This deed clearly identifies James (I) as the father of Elizabeth) Elizabeth was mentioned in the will of William Arrington dated 05-04-1725 filed in Isle of Wight County so I presume she was still living at that time.

James (I) also had a son named James (I refer to him as James (II) and a son named John. John is mentioned in the will of James (II) as a merchant in Mauchline. I am currently attempting to verify through some deed records the valitity of James I to James II.is researching this particular line of Pedens, please contact me at HomeofEdie@aol.com.

Would like to hear from anyone researching:
James Peden b 1705 d 1746 Isle of Wight Co., VA.
He was an older brother of John Peden (1709-1791 of SC
and William Peden b 1711.
All three were sons of James Peden and Mary Mills.
My question is did they come over from Ballymena together?
It is thought that John Peden came directly to Charleston c1770.
Is this proven?
