Hi Linda Hallman
You note that James Arrington married Ann Willis.Enclose excerpt from "Arringtons Bound By Blood".Richard Lee Arrington identifies James wife as Ann.(believed to be Portis)
Do you have documents identifying Ann Willis marrying James Arrington? If you do would you send me copy by e mail to [email protected].
Also, it is obvious you know more about James and his family.Would you share what you have with me.I get lot smarter when people like you share their good work with me.
Also, looking for living Arrington males from William Peden Union as candidates for DNA testing. If your male Arringtons fit would you give me particulars of their tree from William/Peden Union.

JAMES, SON OF ARTHUR ARRINGTON I
The first census of North Carolina, in 1790, listed a James Arrington residing in the Halifax District of Warren County. He, being the head of family, was the only male listed above the age of sixteen. The listing included two white males under sixteen, five slaves, and two females whose ages were not listed.
James Arrington was deeded 185 acres in Edgecombe CountYI NC by Arthur Arrington on Aug. 211 1771-: It is unknown if this Arthur was his father or his brother. This land became part of Nash County when it was formed from Edgecombe in 1777.468 James sold this land to Joseph Arrington in 1785.469 No further information concerning James is found in Edgecombe of Nash Counties. Jamesbeing deeded the land mentioned above in 1777, indicates he was born at least by 1750 since he would have had to -have been of age (21) to own land.
On May 16, 1787 James Arrington was granted a small parcel of land by the state of
North Carolina in Halifax County.Halifax County lies just north of Nash and Edgecombe County.Warren County, just West of Halifax and directly North of Nash was
where James was listed in the above mentioned first census.
James Arrington Sr. of Warren County died in 1810. In his will, proved by oath in the May court of that year he identified his children and his wife "Ann”{Believed to be Portis) Ann lived on until 1827. Her inventory and sale account was by Willis Arrington.
At his death James had seven living children. They were:
I. Willis Arrington I of whom no further is known.
II. James Arrington Jr. resided in Warren County also and in his will in 1851 he lists no wife but does list the following children:
A. John Arrington
B. James Arrington (III), is believed to be the same James of the Halifax, NC 1850 census, since his siblings are listed there as well.
The "James of the aforementioned census was born about 1827 and married a woman named Melissa born 1825. They had a six month old child in 1850, John Arrington. Two additional members of the household whose relationship was not named but who are not believed to have been additional children, due to their ages were; Jackson (13yoa) and Albert Lynch (18 yoa).

E. Martha Arrington married Dr. William Sturdivant in Halifax County, NC in May 1835.
F. Lewis Arrington, born c/a 1797 and resided in Halifax County, NC during the 1850 census. His wife, Martha, born about 1806, gave him at least eight children. The children mentioned in the census of 1850 were:
1. John Arrington, born c/a 1831.
2. Relinda Arrington, born c/a 1833.
3. Lewis Arrington Jr., born c/a 1837.
4. Lear Arrington, born c/a 1839.
5. Louisa Arrington, born c/a 1842.
6. George Arrington, born c/a 1844.
7. Sarah Arrington, born c/a 1846.
8. Ben Arrington, born c/a 1850.
G. Ann Arrington married an "Aycock" man.
H. Gideon Arrington, is possibly the same man mentioned in Halifax in the 1850 census as “Gid” and as sole member of his household. The census indicates a
birth date of around 1801.
I. Henry Arrington was born c/a 1800, according to the Halifax ,NC 1850 census information. The same record identifies his wife as Caroline, born, c/a 1808 and names their children.
1. Mary Arrington, born c/a 1838.
2. Nick Arrington, born c/a 1839.
3. Tom Arrington, born c/a 1840.
4. Joe Arrington, born c/a 1842.
5. Pat Arrington, born c/a 1846.
6. Baley Arrington, born c/a 1847.
7. Feletia Arrington, born c/a 1849.
J. Littleton Arrington, is possibly the same man as Littleberry Arrington born c/ 1806 and listed in the 1850 Halifax County, NC census. In an estate record in the same county Littleton mentions his wife, “Eliza” in 1831.Littleberry's wife in the 1850 census is also Eliza. This, as well as the fact that Littleton's siblings settled there and the fact that no other listing for a Littleberry exists leads me to conclude they are the same. Eliza was born about 1810 and in 1850 there were two children residing at home. .
They were:
1. Robert Arrington, born c/a 1831.
2. Sam Arrington, born c/a 1832
III. Henry Arrington
IV. Mary Arrington married a Southal.
V. Elizabeth Arrington married a Marshall.
VI. Nancy Arrington married a Culpeper.
VII. Martha Arrington married a Smith
