Hi, Margaret: This is a long shot, but my G-G-Grandmother, Clarinda "Clara" LONG was living with your folks in Hancock Co., IL in 1850. Would you by any chance have any further info on her? I'm thinking she must have been a "hired girl" or something, but possibly there is a familial relationsip somewhere as well. Clarinda was born Oct 1841 in TN and died 1919 in Appanoose Co., IA after several marriages & numerous children. Here is the census reference: 1860 US Census of Augusta P. O., Augusta Twp., Hancock Co., IL, 03 Aug 1860, pp. 549A-B, line 35, dwelling 3918, family 1799: Emsley Jackson, 46, m, farmer, $4000/$800, b. NC; Martha C., 46, f, b. KY; William J., 17, m, b. IL; Olivia, 9, f, b. IL; William Garrett, 74, m, b. VA; Rebecca Garrett, 66, f, b. KY; Clara Long, 18, f, b. TN. Clara's brother, Samuel C. LONG (1833-1920), and sister, Lorena (Long) ETTER (1835-1915) were living a few miles away in MaComb, McDonough Co., IL at the time. Regards, John Notify Administrator about this message?
