The House of Arnot(t) book is only one branch of the family. You''l be lucky to find anything useful in it. I didn't. My Arnot/t family tree looks like this so far;
James ArnoT m Allison Colyier Dec24 1728 (Fife)
had 2 sons; James (b Jan9 1732) and John (b Sept4 1737).
John ArnoT m Christian Leckie Nov14 1761 (Fife)
had 7 sons and 1 daughter; John (Mar11 1764), David (Mar19 1769),George (Mar14 1771),Michael (Apr27 1777), Robert (Sep 12 1779), Henry (Jun9 1782), Christian (Jan13 1786) and William (Jun15 1788).
William ArnoT m Johann Duncanson Dec25 1807 (Dunfermline)
had 3 sons and 1 daughter; John ArnoTT (Mar26 1809), Madeline ArnoTT (Jun17 1811), James ArnoTT (May23 1813) and Wemyss ArnoTT (Oct20 1815). (Note the TT appearing).
James m Margaret MacAllum Apr22 1836 (Dundee)
had 6 sons and 1 daughter; Willian (1837), James (1838), Margaret (1840), Wemyss (1842), John (1844), David (1846) and Alexander (1848). James Sr and sons John, David and Alexander all died of Cholera or Measles in 1849 and 1850.
James m Abigail McIntosh Nov 26 1869 (Dundee).
had 3 sons and 2 daughters; Jean (1876/7), James (Oct28 1881), Charles (Oct22 1883), Isabella (May13 1885)and Harry (Mar26 1888). Harry was my Grandfather but he died in 1928 from the effects of being gassed in the war in 1916. He married my Grandmother, Helen Stewart, on Dec26 1918 in Dundee and had 3 sons; Stuart, Harry and Ken (my father).
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's line fits in with this. Mike
