Hi Steve: Thanks for the response. My interest in the General's sons is, unfortunately, based on a lot of "maybe"s. First, the name of my GGG grandmother was Sarah Arnold. I know little else except that she must have been born around the 1775-1785 time frame. Secondly, I have strong clues to indicate that my GGG grandfather came from New Cornwall, Orange County, New York.(Quite near West Point). The 1790 census shows a widowed Arnold woman and family in the same town. Third, in Canada, my GGG was described as "An American Army Officer" after the war of 1812. Fourth , when the son of Sarah Arnold married in Canada, he crossed the border, back to Fowler, NY where lived a Lemuel Arnold born in Connecticut. And finally, someone told me that Richard had lived, not only in Augusta, but in Elizabethtown as well. I have been unable to verify that but, if true, it is interesting because that is where the son of Sarah Arnold married. It all has the sound of relatives of Richard (not the general's immediate family) traveling with him to Canada. But I need a leg to stand on and so far I am legless. Can you give me a hand? (or a leg?) Al Notify Administrator about this message?
