This post was made some time ago, but I believe that there is a will for your John Earney, Catawba County, will date: 1847, WB-1/56 in the North Carolina State Archives.

The Martin, John, Christian Sr. line is a proven DAR line as well. You can send a letter to DAR and a fee, and they will make copies of everything in Christian Sr.'s DAR file and mail it to you. Sometimes, items can include wills, marriage records, etc. You never know what you'll get. You will find info on their website.
