Arnett family of NC, AL & LA

My father was James Garlon Arnett, born in Gulfport,MS, lived in Louisiana for many years. I have always wondered about his middle name and where it may have originated.

My uncle was Leo McNeil Arnett.

Their father was WIlliam Henry Arnett, born in Mobile, AL.

I have been researching the Arnett family for many years and have not been able to find much information on my g-g-grandfather James F. Arnett, b.April 1812, N.C., according to census records.

My thought is that If I could find some more information on my father's middle name - Garlon, and my uncle's middle name - McNeil, then possibly I can find some hints as to their relatives.

I know this sounds rambling, but as we all know, sometimes hints and crazy ideas are what lead us to our answers.
