I do have some information about the Whitecraft Family.

From a sketch of Rachel Arnett and John Whitecraft in the History of Christian County Illinois: "Ahijah Arnett, Sr. was born in Virginia and was murdered on a trip back from there where he had gone to secure money to buy Kentucky land."
Ahijah Arnett, Sr. was Rachel's father. He died when Rachel was only 3 years old. Rachel's sister, Polly, was 2.

Ahijah ARNETT was the son of Thomas & Sarah ARNETT. According to his grand-children, he was born in Virginia and later emigrated to Clark Co. Kentucky. He was married there to Susanah FLEMING [bond date: 28 Jun 1795, consent given by her father, James FLEMING] and had two children: Rachel & Polly [as noted in the will of Thomas ARNETT]. A few years after his marriage, Ahijah had returned to Virginia in hopes of obtaining sufficient money to enter land in Kentucky, and while making the return trip alone on horseback, he was robbed and murdered. An inventory of his estate was made in Clark Co. KY on 15 Jul 1799.

Abijah's daughter Rachel ARNETT (b. ca 1796, Clark Co. KY) married John WHITECRAFT, Jr. in Montgomery Co. KY on 7 Nov 1816. [John WHITECRAFT is brother to Rebecca WHITECRAFT who married John ARNETT.] John and Rachel Arnett WHITECRAFT were the parents of seven (7) children - 6 boys and 1 girl: Joseph A. (b. 11 Jan 1819, Bath Co. KY), Harvey (d. bef 1850, Christian Co. IL), Abijah A. (b. ca 1822, Bath Co. KY - d. bef 1855, Christian Co. IL), John C. (b. 10 Mar 1824, Bath Co. KY - d. bef 1900, Christian Co. IL), Jane M. (b. ca 1826, Bath Co. KY), Silas M. (b. Mar 1828, Bath Co. KY, and George W. (b. 26 Sep 1830, Bath Co. KY)

John WHITECRAFT had moved his family from Bath Co. KY to an area near Springfield, Sangamon Co. IL in 1835. [Part of this area later became Christian Co. IL] He died on his farm on 25 Jul 1847. Rachel lived into her 80th year and was killed in Springfield on 22 Sep 1876 by a runaway team of horses.

Cleanthus Arnett, was born April 2,1805, near Sharpsburg, Bath Co., KY. He was a son of John Arnett, of VA, and grandson of Thomas Arnett, of the same state. His mother's maiden name was Rebecca Whitecraft, a native of TN. and daughter of John Whitecraft a native of PA., and of Dutch descent.
